Alpine Portfolio

I worked as a design engineer at Alpine Electronics, dealing with the user interface and usability for car navigation systems.  One of the biggest challenges is designing a full feature system that is easy to use and learn while minimizing potential driver distraction and dealing with a limited screen space. I mainly worked with the aftermarket system which had three different ways to interact with the system: touch, voice, and remote control.

Some of my main duties include:

  • Analyzing, creating, and negotiating customer requirements
  • Designing, creating and evaluating wireframe screen transition flows for the navigation system
  • Designing and developing prototypes using Flash
  • Testing the User Experience and evaluating competitor systems
  • Researching potential designs and establishing improved schemes
  • Brainstorming and creating strategic patents

Alpine navigation systems have won numerous awards and have consistently been ranked highest in customer satisfaction, mainly due in part, to the intuitive user inteface.
